REL Acoustics LTD

The Pinnacle

REL Reference subwoofers allow you the opportunity to pursue the perfect reproduction of sound, while letting nothing get in your way. Their designers and engineers can dream big and take huge leaps in innovation. The result is truly reference level subwoofers that can extend the soundstage of the most renowned speakers and systems, bringing incredible clarity to the mid-tones in perfect synchronicity.

A REL is a SYSTEM, hence the term Sub-Bass System. RELs are built like no others because it is quite difficult and costly to execute to their standard. As a pure high-end company, they believe in first doing no harm with their subs. So, they offer no high pass crossovers that interfere with the bass from the main speakers. This means they sell fewer subs, but the ones they do sell make their owners quite happy.

The REL Series S/812 Line Array

STACKED FOR ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE

In the real world, bass occurs with width, depth and height. By stacking up to three units per side (stereo or theatre main L-R speakers) the proper perspective and height of sonic events are illuminated. This elevates reproduction from conventional stereo or theatre to a floor-to-ceiling panoramic, full scale perspective of each sonic event. Reviewers are lining up to marvel at the transformation of music and film into the full-scale representation that REL Line Arrays uniquely deliver.

At 800 watts the NextGen5 amplifier is borrowed from their reference models and rocks huge reservoirs of power and current. The 45% increase in power (previous version was 500 watts) is needed to deliver both the profound output levels needed for modern theatre, as well as to produce the deepest bass in a high end 2-channel system. This increase in power is necessitated by our development on the musical front of an all-new circuit termed PerfectFilter that balance both frequency extremes.

Their requirements were for far stronger deep bass output between 19-35 Hz, vastly improved theatre dynamics, and an even more open and spacious soundfield which benefits both music and film. They turned to our NextGen5 amplifier, tuned to 800 watts, with huge reserves of power beyond this, added a light film of carbon fibre to the rear of the driver to handle the extra power, and developed two new sets of custom filters to extract the utmost in brute force and spaciousness. Imbued 812 with the ability to be stacked in 4- or 6-unit line arrays, just like our reference models.

The REL G-1 MkII Sub-Base System

Gibraltar G-1 transforms the definition of deep bass for the home. We know of no finer ambient space and deep bass reproducer. G-1 combines shocking speed and clarity with formidable power handling and depth. G-1 combines a cabinet of remarkable complexity, with a power amplifier capable of sufficient current production to develop even the lowest, sustained passages–whether in ultra high-end home theater or the finest audiophile music system.

The massively beautiful, finned, alloy heatsink is necessary when dissipating the sorts of power necessary for prodigious deep bass for hours on end. Capable of outputting a conservative 600W (120V) on occasion, the dedicated REL Class A/B amplifier used in G-1 is a true dreadnaught. Powerful, fast and capable of tremendous current delivery, it is the finest amplifier ever designed by our engineers.

The 12" bass engine fitted to every G-1 features ultra light, stiff carbon fibre - the same stuff used to craft race car chassis - as weight goes down, speed goes up.

The REL Series S ~ 212/SE Sub-Base System

Introducing 212/SE, REL's most powerful and agile subwoofer, designed exclusively for larger system and rooms to allow superior state of the art speakers to spring to full voice. We believe in quality first, not simply power and boom.

QUALITY MEETS QUANTITY

REL believe in quality first, not simply power and boom. They believe that 1,000 watts is only desirable if it’s conveyed with speed and control. Which is why the 212/SE was engineered to not only make your heart pound and walls shake, but restore midrange warmth and harmonic structure, while providing a powerful, rich low-end. This combination of speed, power and grace driving multiple room modes (forward, down and rear) makes it ideally suited for high end 2-channel, grand rooms and dedicated theaters, allowing larger state of the art speakers to spring to full voice.
